SMART Board interactive whiteboard with SMART Board software 9.5 shortlisted for prestigious BETT Award

SMART products achieve finalist standing for Primary and Secondary Hardware category award

CALGARY, ALBERTA --- December 19, 2006 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces that the SMART Board™ 600 series interactive whiteboard with SMART Board software 9.5 has been shortlisted for the BETT Awards in the Primary and Secondary Hardware category. Winners in 12 categories will be announced at an awards dinner on January 10, 2007, at BETT in London, England. In 2005, SMART won the Secondary Hardware Award for its Rear Projection SMART Board 2000i interactive whiteboard.

Shortlisted products must offer specific and demonstrable benefits to education activity for primary and secondary learners. Judges assess whether products demonstrate sound design principles, address specific learning objectives and outcomes, support and promote inclusive practice, demonstrate ease of use, engage and motivate students and facilitate innovative use. Products are further evaluated by independent practitioners who have been selected based on their expertise in the award categories. The categories include Primary and Secondary Digital Content (core), Primary and Secondary Digital Content (other), Early Years Solution, Special Education Needs Solutions, Primary and Secondary Hardware, Post16, Supporting Institutional Leadership and Management, E-Assessment and Creative and Constructive Tools. BETT is the world’s largest education technology show, attracting over 600 education technology suppliers and over 28,000 visitors. The show brings together the global teaching and learning community for four days to view and experience the latest technology and practical solutions for education.
